The Pokémon Company is expanding its collaboration with vocaloid Hatsune Miku, this time launching a collection of merchandise featuring the singer as a Pokémon Trainer specializing in each of the 18 types. Pokémon x Hatsune Miku are also adding to their catalog of songs, launching their first song of 2026 on January 28th. The new merch collection, “18 Harmony Stage,” will arrive at Pokémon Centers in Japan on January 31st, and to the Pokémon Center Online on January 29th.

Pokémon Sleep's 2.5 Year anniversary was earlier this week, on January 20th. In celebration of this milestone, the game is now distributing a special bundle of gifts to all Sleep Researchers. Details have also been released on the game's next Good Sleep Day event at the beginning of February.

The Fox Pokémon, Vulpix and Alolan Vulpix will be the featured Pokémon for Pokémon GO's February 2026 Community Day, which will be held at the very beginning of the month on Sunday, February 1st, from 2:00pm to 5:00pm local time. During this event, Vulpix and Alolan Vulpix will be appearing more frequently in the wild, together with their Shiny variant, and some that has a Special Background. Scopely have also announced the dates of the next Season's Community Days and other events.

Dynamax Ho-Oh will be making its debut in five-star Max Battles in Pokémon GO's next Max Battle Weekend, running from Saturday, January 31st, at 6:00am to Sunday, February 1st, at 9:00pm local time. Lucky Trainers may also encounter Dynamax Lugia in its Shiny variant during this event.

The next Pokémon to join the fray in Pokémon UNITE will be Sirfetch’d — It will be available to play from January 30th. Sirfetch'd is a Melee All-Rounder that does Physical damage, with Expert difficulty.

Pokémon UNITE's newest update, dubbed Indomitable Spirit, was released on January 22nd at 7am UTC, and brings balance adjustments for various Pokémon, alongside the usual bug fixes, and Shop and Event updates. Specifically, this update provides buffs (⇧) for Garchomp, Ceruledge, Tinkaton, Trevenant, Darkrai, Psyduck, Charizard, Galarian Rapidash, and Comfey; while bringing nerfs (⇩) for Zacian, Blaziken, Mega Gyarados, Mega Charizard Y, Mewtwo (X), Glaceon, Scizor, Vaporeon, and Latias.

The Pokémon Company is continuing their relationship with Universal Studios Japan, with both companies announcing a new Pokémon experience coming to the theme park. While the exact nature of the collaboration has not yet been revealed, the companies say that it will first debut at Universal Studios Japan, but is planned to expand to their locations across the globe, including Universal Studios Orlando.

Pokémon TCG Pocket's next expansion, “Fantastical Parade”, is set to launch worldwide next week on Wednesday, January 28th at 5:00pm (PST). This expansion introduces Stadium cards into the game. Various in-game events to take place throughout the next month have also been announced.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A version 2.0.1 is now available to download for the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. This update allows Trainers to purchase multiple berries at once and increases the maximum amount of Mega Shards that a Trainer can have to 9,999. It also fixes several minor bugs to enhance the gameplay experience. This update is required to access Internet features.

Pokémon Masters EX is today launching its latest Ranked Damage Event, Super Sparring No. 18. Featuring battles against Wally, Hop, and Barry, this event will run through to January 28th, at 9:59pm (PST).

The “Animated Pokédex” series of shorts is back for its fourth season, “Vibrant Moment”. Episodes will be released every Monday, Wednesday and Friday on mainland Chinese platforms such as Bilibili, Weibo, Douyin, Xiaohongshu, Kuaishou, etc. The series depicts the ecology of various Pokémon, showing a glimpse into their daily lives.

Glimmet, the Ore Pokémon, will make its Pokémon GO debut in the Into the Depths event, which will run from Tuesday, January 27th, at 10:00am, to Sunday, February 1st, at 8:00pm local time. Trainers will have the opportunity to encounter Glimmet from Routes, Field Research, free Timed Research, and paid Timed Research during this event.

Team GO Rocket are back to their old tricks in Pokémon GO, with the latest Team GO Rocket Takeover event, Precious Pals: Taken Over, running from this Friday January 23th, at 12:00am, and concluding Sunday January 25th, 2026, at 8:00pm local time. A Raikou Shadow Raid Day will also run alongside this event on Saturday from 2:00pm to 5:00pm local time.

The Dutch speedrunning community is coming together for the 2026 edition of BSG Plus this week at the Fletcher Hotel-Restaurant Nieuwegein-Utrecht. This year's event will be raising money for Stichting MIND, a charity for mental health based out of the Netherlands. Runs of two Pokémon games have been scheduled for the event, which can be watched from its Twitch channel.

The 2026 Pokémon Toronto Regional Championships were won by Cary D'Ortona. The event ran from 17-18 January 2026, and featured a total of 750 trainers battling for an invite to the 2026 Pokémon World Championships. This was both the first official tournament in 2026, as well as the first to use the Regulation Set F ruleset in the 2026 Championship Series, allowing the use of all Paradox and Legendary Pokémon, with the exclusion of Restricted Special Pokémon such as Koraidon and Miraidon.

Pokémon UNITE's January 15th update has introduced various new features, including helpful features that encourage teamwork and communication, and more game modes, with the new "Super Magikarp Splash" mode and the returning "Electrode Volleyball" mode. Additionally, the Draft Pick mode will be suspended temporarily due to instability and crashing issues.

A Mega Latios ex Drop Event has now commenced in Pokémon TCG Pocket, running through to January 26th at 9:59pm (PST), offering players the opportunity to challenge a series of special solo battles to attempt to obtain promo card packs and other rewards.

The Pokémon Company is debuting some new Mega Evolution plushes today, which will be coming to Pokémon Centers in Japan beginning January 24th, and to the Pokémon Center Online on January 22nd. Meanwhile, Takara Tomy has announced a new plush as well, a classic “fat” version of Pikachu in celebration of the franchise’s 30th anniversary. The “Welcome Back!” Pikachu plush, as it's called, will be available via Takara Tomy’s website beginning February 28th.

In a brief update posted on the Pokémon Trading Card Game's official Japanese homepage, it has been announced that Medicham V, released in Japan in 2021 in the Blue Sky Stream expansion, and overseas in Sword & Shield—Evolving Skies), will no longer be able to be used in Extra Regulation decks from February 20th.

Three new Sync Pairs are making their debuts in Pokémon Masters EX today alongside the launch of the game's latest Academy Event, Art Agony, Teacher’s Tears. Players will receive Kris (Academy) & Igglybuff simply for starting the event, while Brassius & Sudowoodo and Hassel & Baxcalibur make their debuts in separate EX Fair Scouts.
