Pokémon feat. Hatsune Miku Project VOLTAGE merch coming to Pokémon Centers in Japan, with new song debuting January 28th

The Pokémon Company is expanding its collaboration with vocaloid Hatsune Miku, this time launching a collection of merchandise featuring the singer as a Pokémon Trainer specializing in each of the 18 types. Pokémon x Hatsune Miku are also adding to their catalog of songs, launching their first song of 2026 on January 28th. The new merch collection, “18 Harmony Stage,” will arrive at Pokémon Centers in Japan on January 31st, and to the Pokémon Center Online on January 29th.

Catch Vulpix and Alolan Vulpix in Pokémon GO's next Community Day event on February 1st — Dates released for upcoming Community Days and other events

The Fox Pokémon, Vulpix and Alolan Vulpix will be the featured Pokémon for Pokémon GO's February 2026 Community Day, which will be held at the very beginning of the month on Sunday, February 1st, from 2:00pm to 5:00pm local time. During this event, Vulpix and Alolan Vulpix will be appearing more frequently in the wild, together with their Shiny variant, and some that has a Special Background. Scopely have also announced the dates of the next Season's Community Days and other events.

Pokémon UNITE's newest update, dubbed Indomitable Spirit, was released on January 22nd at 7am UTC, and brings balance adjustments for various Pokémon, alongside the usual bug fixes, and Shop and Event updates. Specifically, this update provides buffs (⇧) for Garchomp, Ceruledge, Tinkaton, Trevenant, Darkrai, Psyduck, Charizard, Galarian Rapidash, and Comfey; while bringing nerfs (⇩) for Zacian, Blaziken, Mega Gyarados, Mega Charizard Y, Mewtwo (X), Glaceon, Scizor, Vaporeon, and Latias.

Immersive Pokémon experience coming to Universal Studios theme parks worldwide; “hyper-realistic” project to debut first in Japan

The Pokémon Company is continuing their relationship with Universal Studios Japan, with both companies announcing a new Pokémon experience coming to the theme park. While the exact nature of the collaboration has not yet been revealed, the companies say that it will first debut at Universal Studios Japan, but is planned to expand to their locations across the globe, including Universal Studios Orlando.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A updates to version 2.0.1 with QoL changes — Trainers can now purchase multiple berries at once and carry up to 9,999 Mega Shards

Pokémon Legends: Z-A version 2.0.1 is now available to download for the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. This update allows Trainers to purchase multiple berries at once and increases the maximum amount of Mega Shards that a Trainer can have to 9,999. It also fixes several minor bugs to enhance the gameplay experience. This update is required to access Internet features.

Runs of Pokémon White 2 and Pokémon Pearl to feature in the BSG Plus 2026 charity marathon in the Netherlands this week, in benefit of Stichting MIND

The Dutch speedrunning community is coming together for the 2026 edition of BSG Plus this week at the Fletcher Hotel-Restaurant Nieuwegein-Utrecht. This year's event will be raising money for Stichting MIND, a charity for mental health based out of the Netherlands. Runs of two Pokémon games have been scheduled for the event, which can be watched from its Twitch channel.

VGC 2026 Pokémon Toronto Regionals Top Teams and Results

The 2026 Pokémon Toronto Regional Championships were won by Cary D'Ortona. The event ran from 17-18 January 2026, and featured a total of 750 trainers battling for an invite to the 2026 Pokémon World Championships. This was both the first official tournament in 2026, as well as the first to use the Regulation Set F ruleset in the 2026 Championship Series, allowing the use of all Paradox and Legendary Pokémon, with the exclusion of Restricted Special Pokémon such as Koraidon and Miraidon.

The Pokémon Company is debuting some new Mega Evolution plushes today, which will be coming to Pokémon Centers in Japan beginning January 24th, and to the Pokémon Center Online on January 22nd. Meanwhile, Takara Tomy has announced a new plush as well, a classic “fat” version of Pikachu in celebration of the franchise’s 30th anniversary. The “Welcome Back!” Pikachu plush, as it's called, will be available via Takara Tomy’s website beginning February 28th.
