Project VOLTAGE, the special art and music collaboration project between Pokémon and the popular Volcaloid character Hatsune Miku, releases its next song tomorrow with the premiere of Encounter by Orangestar. The music video set to premiere on Orangestar's official YouTube channel this Friday, February 16th, at 6:30pm (JST) / 9:30am (UTC) / 1:30am (PST). The final song in this current batch, from marasy (まらしぃ), will release the following day on February 17th.

Pokémon Europe International Championships returns to ExCel London this April 5th to 7th - Pop-up Pokémon Center to be open onsite from April 4th

The Pokémon Europe International Championships are coming once again to the enormous ExCeL London event center in England. Running from from April 5th to 7th, the event will feature competitions for the Pokémon Trading Card Game, the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet video games, Pokémon GO, and Pokémon UNITE. As with the 2022 Pokemon World Championships and 2023 Pokémon Europe International Championships which were also held at this venue, a pop-up Pokémon Center store will be available at the event, selling a wide variety of Pokémon products, including a range of items themed around the International Championships.

The Empire State Building will light up yellow and blue on Pokémon Day to celebrate the upcoming U.S. premiere of Pokémon Horizons: The Series

The Pokêmon Company International (TPCi), their long-term charitable partner The Toy Foundation™, and the Empire State Building in New York City have teamed up to celebrate Pokémon Day 2024 by illuminating the iconic tower in yellow and blue, inspired by the colors of the Pokémon logo. TPCi says the lighting is also in anticipation of the U.S. premiere of Pokémon Horizons: The Series, which the company describes as the first new mainline Pokémon anime to premiere since the original Pokémon the Series over 25 years ago. The Empire State Building will be lit in Pokémon’s colors on February 27th from sunset until 2 a.m., along with hosting Pokémon GO activities for visitors. Catch the U.S. premiere of Pokémon Horizons: The Series on March 7th, exclusively on Netflix.

Twitch Plays Pokémon kicks off with tenth anniversary season with a return to Pokémon Red, starting today at 11:18pm (UTC) / 3:18pm (PST)

The Twitch Plays Pokémon channel celebrates its tenth anniversary this week with the launch of a brand new season, kicking off with a return to the very first game featured on the channel, Pokémon Red. In this first Twitch Plays Pokémon run of 2024, players will once again attempt to complete the game by entering button inputs in the channel's Twitch chatroom. This run is intended to kick off a series of runs in which they "intend to visit every known Pokémon region".

Washington State man arrested after stealing $50,000 worth of Pokémon cards, merch from residential storage locker

On January 23rd, 52-year-old Kelly B. Wick was arrested at about 4:30 a.m. after a Kirkland County police officer spotted expired plates on his white pickup truck, in Bellevue, WA, about 20 minutes outside of Seattle. During the traffic stop, the officer noticed cardboard boxes full of Pokémon cards and merchandise in the truck bed addressed to a resident of a nearby apartment building. “...Despite the heavy rain at the time, several cardboard boxes filling the truck’s bed were dry, “ reported Bellevue Police Department, who collaborated on the arrest, “as if having just been loaded into the vehicle.” Wick was detained while an officer woke up the addressee of the boxes and brought him to the scene of the traffic stop to confirm that they were stolen from his storage locker in the apartment building

New pins announced for the Pokémon Center, arriving each month of 2024

The Pokémon Center has announced a new line of pins coming to customers in the U.S., U.K., and Canada throughout the year. The monthly Dragon Types pins will be released in celebration of 2024 being the Year of the Dragon, with the first in the set, Garchomp, available now for $12.99 USD. Each of the 12 pins will be released towards the end of the month and is set against a translucent, stained glass-style background. While the specific Dragon-type Pokémon to be included in the 2024 collection have not been announced, they can be presumed to be about the same size as Garchomp, 2 inches tall.

Reverse badge order run of Pokémon Red/Blue to feature in the Games Done Slow 2024 charity marathon in benefit of Diskussionsforum Depression

The Games Done Slow 2024 event, hosted by SlowRunsLive, is being held this year from February 9th to February 11th. A run of Pokémon Red/Blue will be taking place at this event, in which the runner will complete the game while obtaining all badges from eighth to first, in reverse order to how they're shown on the trainer card screen. This event is be raising money for Diskussionsforum Depression e.V., a German nonprofit discussion forum where youths and adults suffering from depression can talk with each other and network with each other to find resources and aid. Games Done Slow 2024 can be watched from the event's official Twitch channel.

The name of the song comes from the sound a person reacting when startled (ひゅ), and onomatopoeia for a rumbling or booming sound (どろどろ).
