Pokémon TCG Pocket launch event coming to London to feature digital pack opening, special PokéStops, and more

The Pokémon Company International is going to be hosting a slightly belated launch event for the new mobile game Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket, a digital adaptation of the Pokémon TCG, which will launch worldwide on October 30th. The launch event will be held from 10 am to 7 pm on November 9th and from 11:15 am to 7 pm on November 10th at Outernet, an events complex in central London that features screens covering its walls.

Pikachu dons Indian attire for the festive season — Pikachu wearing a Saree debuts in Pokémon GO alongside other celebrations in November and December

Pokémon is expanding its presence in the Indian subcontinent: As part of the "Pokémon Festivities" campaign, Pikachu will be donning an Indian look and appearing in various events - from Pokémon GO to Pokémon Kids TV, to collaborations and celebrations taking place across the country. The male Pikachu sports a stylish navy-blue kurta with a beige vest, while the female Pikachu is clad in a pink saree. Pikachu’s attire has a clear Indian influence, with the Mago Berry pattern, resembling India’s national fruit, the mango. The design also incorporates the Poké Ball motif that is well-known among Pokémon fans. In addition to an exclusive event in Pokémon GO, the campaign will include a special gift box, a sticker pack, a dance video, keychain giveaways, and Pokémon Mela events.

Pokémon Center Nagoya relocating to larger premises in the PARCO East Building — Current store in the Matsuzakaya mall to close on September 8th

Pokémon Center Nagoya, currently located on the 5th floor of the Matsuzakaya mall in the Sakae area of Nagoya's Naka Ward, will be relocating to a larger and more accessible location on the 2nd floor of the PARCO East Building, also in Sakae. The current store is scheduled to close on September 8th, though as of writing no date for the opening of the new store has been announced.

Pokémon × Kogei: Playful Encounters of Art and Japanese Craft exhibit opens at Tokyo's Azabudai Hills Gallery on November 1st, featuring new merch

The Pokémon × Kogei: Playful Encounters of Art and Japanese Craft exhibit, featuring handcrafted works of Pokémon by 20 different Japanese artists, will be opening for another run from November 1st, this time at the Azabudai Hills Gallery in Tokyo. This latest installment, which will be open until February 2nd, 2025, will include additional works by several artists, and also talk events, workshops, a collaboration café, and new merchandise.

This week, Niantic announced details on a new Pokémon GO City Safari event for Jakarta, Indonesia, which continues the run of Pikachu's Indonesia Journey events in collaboration with Pokémon Air Adventures. This ticketed in-person event will run over the weekend of September 21st and 22nd, featuring encounters with both location-themed wild Pokémon and Pokémon themed around the Pokémon Air Adventures, along with event-exclusive Research.

Pokémon booth at Comic-Con International to feature interactive Pokémon Horizons experience — Other booths offer exclusive merch and TCG tournaments

A press release from The Pokémon Company International earlier today has announced a collection of Pokémon activities, displays, and distributions that will be taking place at the upcoming Comic-Con International 2024, which is being held later this month from July 25th-28th, with a special preview night being held on July 24th. These include an interactive booth where attendees can learn more about Pokémon Horizons: The Series, and a special early distribution of Roy's Fuecoco for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. A variety of other Pokémon-related activities and attractions, including TCG tournaments, will also be running during this event.

Pokémon Red/Blue and Pokémon Card GB to feature in Germench speedrunning event at DoKomi 2024 in benefit of Grünes Band

The German speedrunning community is set to perform live at the DoKomi event for 2024. Based out of Düsseldorf, Germany, DoKomi is an annual fair for anime and manga. Speedruns of two Pokémon games are scheduled for the final day of the event, which can be watched on the Germench Twitch channel. A Pokémon Scarlet/Violet competition is also set to take place at the event, in colaboration with the Grugapark Poké-Liga.

Pokémon GO comes to Perth, Australia this June 29th and 30th for Supanova, with in-person gameplay at the Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre

Niantic has released full details on the Pokémon GO in-person event being held in Perth, Australia this weekend on June 29th and 30th in conjunction with the Supanova pop culture expo. Trainers will be able to take part in the in-person gameplay experience during the event at the Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre between Saturday June 29th at 10:00am, and Sunday June 30th at 6:00pm local time.

Held over the weekend of May 31st to June 2nd, Pokéverse was an unaffiliated, “Made by Fans for Fans” Pokémon convention held in Mandaluyong City, near Manila in the Philippines. Since the convention, congoers, vendors, and even its own celebrity guests have come online to discuss the many issues they encountered, from its unusually high ticket prices and table fees to concerns with how it treated its Make-A-Wish child guests.

The first volume of Pokémon Adventures: Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire is scheduled to be available as part of Free Comic Book Day 2024, which will be held Saturday, May 4th. The event, hosted by indie comic shops across North America, offers visitors a variety of free comics and manga and is celebrated “as a way to get customers to visit the comic shops in their local community.” Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire is offered as Gold sponsor title, meaning every shop that is participating in Free Comic Book Day will have them available, though quantities of popular titles like Pokémon are often limited. Toyota’s real-life Miraidon motorcycle is on display now at technology showcase in Japan

The Toyota Motor Corporation recently revealed its impressive reproduction of Miraidon as a motorcycle, and has now debuted it for display to the public at the Waku Waku World technology showcase in Toyota City, Japan. The Miraidon motorcycle is the result of work done by the Toyota Engineering Society, a volunteer organization within the Toyota Motor Corporation to which members interested in furthering technology are appointed for one year. Work on the project began in June 2023 and was completed in just six months, fitting into the Toyota Engineering Society’s yearly theme of “Future Mobility.”

Pokémon GO Fest returns for 2024 with three in-person events, in Sendai (May 30th-June 2nd), Madrid (June 14th-16th), and New York City (July 5th-7th)

Niantic has announced that the annual Pokémon GO Fest will be returning once more this year with 3 separate on-site events, as well as a global event. The three on-site events will be held in Sendai, Japan from May 30th to June 2nd; Madrid, Spain from June 14th to 16th; and New York City in the United States from July 5th to 7th. The global event meanwhile will be held on July 13th and 14th. This year's edition of the Pokémon GO Fest will see the debut of the Mythical Pokémon Marshadow.
