Guzma debuts new sync pair with Ariados in Pokémon Masters EX, alongside launch of Lovable Numskulls Trainer Files Event plus new Leon Ultimate Battle

Leon and Plumeria, with their new sync partners Ariados and Gengar.
The new Trainer Files: Lovable Numskulls event has just launched today in Pokémon Masters EX. Running alongside this event are a set of Variety Scouts featuring Guzma, with his new sync partner Ariados, and the debut of a new Ultimate Battle, Leon's Unbeatable Blaze.

Trainer FIles: Lovable Numskulls
In this new event running through until May 22nd, at 10:59pm (PDT), a Team Skull Grunt approaches Guzma and Plumeria wanting to leave the team... so that they can go and support Marnie instead! By completing battles during this event, players can earn Event Voucher F items, which can be exchanged for a variety of valuable items, including 5★ Scout Tickets, 5★ Alola Scout Tickets, Lucky Cookies for Guzma & Ariados and Plumeria & Gengar, and a Sprint Move Candy Coin. Players can also obtain Gems for completing special missions during the event.

As usual for events of this type, players will have an increased chance of receiving bonus rewards if they take on event battles using teams that feature specific sync pairs. The more of these sync pairs that players place in their lineup, the greater the bonus received. The applicable Sync Pairs and reward rates are as follows:
  • Guzma & Ariados: +60% (×1.6) bonus rewards
  • Guzma & Golisopod, Plumeria & Salazzle: +40% (×1.4) bonus rewards
  • All other sync pairs with the Alola Theme Skill: +20% (×1.2) bonus rewards
  • All other Poison- and Bug-Type sync pairs: +20% (×1.2) bonus rewards
These bonuses stack additively, so having a team consisting of Guzna & Ariados, Plumeria & Salazzle, and any other Alola sync pair, would grant a combined +120% (x2.2) rewards.

Players should also note the following when playing this event:
  • The number of plays available for Daily Extreme Battle 1 are reset every day at 11:00pm (PDT).
  • To participate, players must have completed Main Story Chapter 1: The More the Merrier (Normal) in single-player.
  • The sync pairs that appear as opponents in battle have different capabilities than those players can actually obtain.
  • All mission completion rewards must be claimed within three days of the mission period ending.
  • Leftover Event Voucher E items will be automatically converted to coins at a rate of 10 coins per item at the end of the event, and sent to players' Present Boxes
Guzma & Ariados
Guzma Variety Scouts

These Variety scouts offer players an opportunity to scout Guzma in his brand new 5★ sync pair with Ariados. The pair makes their debut with an expanded sync grid, the ability to be raised to 6★ EX, and the ability to unlock a Tech EX Role. Guzma & Ariados uses the same costumes as those from Guzma's regular sync pair with Golisopod, and does not have their own individual sync pair story. Players will also receive a present of a Support Move Coin for the first three times they use the Sync Pair Scout x11 for this Scout.

In addition to the regular Variety Scout, Trainers can also take advantage of a Presents! Limit 3! Guzma Variety Scout, a special Sync Pair Scout requiring paid gems, that, as the name implies, can be used up to 3 times. Players will receive a 50% discount on their first Sync Pair Scout ×11 for this special Spotlight Scout, making it 1,500 Gems rather than the usual 3,000. As an added bonus, players will also receive bonus items every time they do a Sync Pair Scout ×11 for this special Spotlight Scout. The bonuses that are received are as follows.

1st Time (50% off)
  • Custom ★ Power Up for Guzma & Ariados ×5
  • Custom Sync Orb for Guzma & Ariados ×200
2nd Time
  • Custom ★ Power Up for Guzma & Ariados ×5
  • Custom Sync Orb for Guzma & Ariados ×200
3rd Time
  • 5★ Master Scout Ticket J x1
  • Custom ★ Power Up for Guzma & Ariados ×10
  • Custom Sync Orb for Guzma & Ariados ×200
The 5★ Master Scout Ticket J allows Trainers to use the Guzma Guarenteed Ticket Scout, ensuring they scout the Team Skull leader. Both the Variety Scout and Variety Scout + Present! Limit 3! will be available until May 22nd, at 10:59pm (PDT). The associated Ticket Scout will be available until May 29th, at 10:59pm (PDT).

Ultimate Battle: Leon's Unbeatable Blaze
Ultimate Battle: Leon's Unbeatable Blaze

Ultimate Battle: Leon's Unbeatable Blaze is the latest piece of content to be added to the Challenge the Strong content area. To access this Ultimate Battle, select the Side Area from the main Explore Menu, and then select Challenge the Strong. Players successfully completing Ultimate Battle: Leon's Unbeatable Blaze will receive 300 Diamonds as a First-Time Reward.

Challenge the Strong battles follow the standard three-on-three battle format, but have the Ultimate difficulty level, which as the name suggests is a level of difficulty significantly above the difficulty of high level battles to date. These battles will require players to maximize the potential of their Sync Pairs, to have an excellent understanding of how to build their team for the best advantage, and understand the right time to use their moves in the most effective way.

To unlock Challenge the Strong and Ultimate difficulty battles, players must have completed the Champion Stadium Hard Lv. 1 for any region.
