Event Fall 2024 One-Shot Contest Announcement!

Entries have concluded, and our judging period is now into effect!

You may have noticed that this time, our one-shot contest isn't described as an 'Autumn' one, like in years past... you'll see why in a moment!

With that out of the way, I'll give a brief outline of how our one-shot contests work! Essentially, over a period of around two months, each participant gets to write a short story under a theme we set out, they'll be judged by our panel of judges, and we'll crown a few of our entrants as winners, with prizes ranging from advertisement on our Bulbagarden Twitter and Tumblr accounts, to possibly a reward completely new to our Forums in general!?? Everyone gets lots of reviews, though, so you won't lose out on trying in any case!!

If you're a regular participant, you'll probably know these rules already, but:

Rules

1. Our theme is 'Fall' -- open-ended, we know, but it's on purpose! The sky is the limit with this theme, Trainers, because it can mean any number of things... a 'fall from grace', or 'falling in love', or just something about the season itself! We're looking for entries that make creative usage of this theme and its open-endedness first and foremost, but your tone, genre, rating, and anything else are completely up to you. Good luck! (Thanks to @Audrelite for coming up with this wonderful take on such a simple-seeming word!)
2. As always, our wordcount cap is 10,000 words. Please use this link to check your wordcount, so we're all held to the same standard.
3. You have two weeks to register as an entrant, starting right now and ending on September 24, 11:59 PM latest timezone. Use this time to plan your story, or even write if you have an idea you really like!
4. You have eight weeks to write your entry, starting right now, with our submission deadline being with 48 hours of November 4, at 23:59 GMT at the very latest!
5. Please do not post your stories until the last two days -- we want to make sure things are fair for everyone, so please stick to posting within 48 hours of our deadline! If you're waiting for a while, use this time to fine-tune your story. Post your story in its own thread, and post a link in here or in our Discussion Thread, which will be posted once our registering period ends.
6. Judging and voting will last around two-three weeks at a date that is currently not quite known, but sometime in mid-late November. Our panel of judges will read and discuss every entry, and pick a winner in the categories of Best Overall and Best Usage of Theme. We will also have a community-wide vote for both of those categories, as well as possibly one for Scariest Story if there are enough submissions that would qualify. You don't need to review to vote, but reviews go a long way and are always appreciated, even if they're short comments!

All forum and category rules apply, as always, so please act with good sportsmanship and with kindness to your fellow participants~.

If you'd like to register to be a judge, please let me know -- I'm unsure how many we'll need, and will likely be prioritizing our Workshop staff members as judges, but I will get in contact if your help is wanted! Please feel free to ask me if you have any other questions, and register as a participant before our deadline!
