New merch for Gold and Silver’s 25th anniversary coming to Pokémon Centers in Japan
Gold and Silver’s collection includes plushes, apparel, and plenty of homegoods themed after the original color palette and sprite work of the games. The centerpieces of the collection are certainly the Ho-Oh and Lugia plushes in monochrome gold and silver color palettes, respectively, which are priced at ¥4,400 ($28.51 USD) each. Ho-Oh and Lugia also lend their theming to two varsity jackets, which feature the games’ original box art on the back and a map of Johto on the inside, each for ¥22,000 ($142.54 USD). Original battle screens from Gold and Silver can be found on a set of 3 color-changing teacups for ¥1,870 ($12.12 USD) and sets of 2 saucers for ¥1,650 ($10.69 USD).
Starting out the homegoods, a mini trash can featuring the Johto map on the outside and the message for checking an empty trash can in-game (なかは からっぽ...... (It’s empty inside…)) on the inside will retail for ¥1,540 ($9.98 USD). Sprites from Gold and Silver’s party screen are featured as bookends; a set of two will be ¥3.300 ($21.38 USD). There’s plenty of other homages to the games in this merch collection, including correction tape in the shape of Moomoo Milk for ¥550 ($3.56 USD), keychains of the original Ruins of Alph slide puzzles for ¥880 ($5.70 USD), and stickers in cases designed to look like Game Boy Color cartridges for ¥990 ($6.41 USD).
The Ho-Oh and Lugia monochrome plushes are expected to become available via Amazon Japan on November 30th in extremely limited quantities.
