The Bulbapedia encyclopedia is always growing here at Bulbagarden! All sorts of edits and contributions sprout up every single day thanks to Pokémon enthusiasts from all around the world! Let's take a closer look at our editors' best contributions that have taken root during October 2024.

Game of the Year! - Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket

Why is Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket the Game of the Year? It's the only Pokémon game release in 2024! But that doesn't mean we at Bulbapedia took time off--no! During the month of October, our staff team worked hard developing a brand new, sleek design for our card pages, prioritizing a mobile friendly view! What's different? Let's dive in!
  • Introducing tabs! Take a look at Mewtwo ex on the left. See those Rarity labels below the key image? Those are clickable tabs. Mewtwo ex in Genetic Apex has 4 available artworks, all of which are viewable via these 4 tabs! Simply click on Double Rare, Super Rare, Immersive, or Ultra Rare to see your favorite print.
  • Evolutions now feature the delightful little evolution icons featured on the cards themselves.
  • Our expansion data is now provided in a much simpler, streamlined display, reflecting the universal set information.
  • Attacks, Abilities, and other card texts will now adapt to your screen size, providing a consistent experience whether you are on your computer, tablet, or smartphone.
But wait there's more! New and returning staff members, Apopheniac, Cipher, and Storm Aurora, have been hard at work writing pages for Cards, Missions, Decks, the in-game Shop, Wonder Pick, and the newly available Wonder Pick Event. Check out these pages and more (nearly 250 new articles!) from our Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket landing page here.

Never Give Up, Never Surrender!
...(except in certain circumstances)

The signature move of Falinks, No Retreat, is a fun one. It raises all the user's stats-Attack, Defense, Special Attack, Special Defense, and Speed-by one stage each, with the only drawback being that the user can't switch out or flee from battle anymore. However, that drawback can be ignored by certain items: Shed Shell, Eject Button, and Red Card. That much has been known for a while, but there was still one question lingering on the table: can that drawback be ignored by moves? Well, thanks to the research of C.Ezra.M, we now have an answer. What is it? Well, you'll just have to read it on the No Retreat article for yourself.

Back to the Beginning!
Here's something most of you have seen, but maybe haven't thought too much about: game intros! These are the animated scenes you see before (or during) a game's title screen, to get you hyped up to play. Seems simple, but these can have a lot of information - previews of the trainers you'll face, Pokémon you'll find, and glimpses of the regional villains and type masters you'll battle against. A couple games even change their intro depending on your story progress! Game intros also get referenced outside of the games themselves, in animation such as Pokémon the Series and Pokémon Origins. Thanks to Jaminux and Mortagua2, we now have pictures for Generation III onwards, and descriptions for Generation VI onwards! Since every core series game has an intro, there's something nostalgic here for everyone - check out what clicks with you!

This is one for the books!

Historian Adil has compiled a rich, detailed look at the newly opened Nintendo Museum in Japan, which began officially welcoming visitors on October 2nd, 2024. Step inside and explore the incredible journey of Nintendo, tracing its roots back to 1889 when it began as a humble playing card manufacturer, and follow its transformation into the gaming powerhouse it is today. The museum’s exhibits delve into the company’s history and legacy, celebrating each stage with unique artifacts and multimedia displays. Visitors can even experience classic Nintendo games like never before, thanks to interactive setups that add a modern twist to beloved titles. Thank you, Adil, for taking us behind the scenes of this extraordinary tribute to Nintendo’s past and future! Be sure to check out the Ultra Hand SP Pokémon themed museum activity while you are here!

Chew on This!
Resident Pokémon biologist Team Rocket Grunt has given a fresh coat of paint to the new Pokémon predation page, a must-read for Trainers with an appetite for natural science! Reshape your understanding of the Pokédex with all sorts of juicy information, ranging from details about Pokémon parasites to heated rivalries between species. There’s even a section on Pokémon byproducts, with a culinary twist—anyone for Slowpoke Tail?

Quills and thrills!
Anyone that's played Poképark 2: Wonders Beyond can tell you about the Vast White Quills - collectibles hidden around the world. Some are along the story's path, but others require revisiting old areas with new abilities, or accessing hidden areas to find them. Only 20 of the total 40 are needed to finish the story, but the collectors among us want to get 'em all - and some of them can be quite tricky! The one on top of Wish Park's giant cake is especially well-hidden! Fortunately, thanks to the research efforts of Boblers, MosesSin, and FinnishPokéFan92, we finally have a list of all 40 Vast White Quill locations - with pictures! Get out there and earn Kecleon's Quillseekers achievement!

Looking snappy!
Our Bulletin Board has seen a lot of interest this past month, particularly the Snap Board! Our new article on the Biscuits in Pokémon Sleep was missing an image of the Suicune Biscuit, Central Plaza from the recent The Indigo Disk DLC was missing an image of the location, and Hilda (game) was missing an image of her Kotobukiya figure. But veteran uploader Handium and rookie uploader KTrain5369 handily took care of adding those images! Check out these articles with their stellar new shots!

Let's Have a Champion Time...On the Beach!
Did you know those are the names of music tracks from Pokémon Sword and Shield and Pokémon Scarlet and Violet? They're just some of the many songs that were composed and arranged by Game Freak legend Gō Ichinose. We've been wondering what all the songs were that he composed and arranged for these core series games, so all-rounder Handium took the time to list them all! Now we know who to thank for the battle themes for Hop, Bede, Oleana, Leon, Arven, and many more. Check out the Gō Ichinose page for the complete list!
