Fresh updates to official Japanese Pokémon TCG site and YouTube unveils new cards from upcoming Scarlet & Violet series expansion, including Art Rares

An update on the Pokémon Trading Card Game's official Japanese homepage has revealed new cards that will be released with Triplet Beat, the first Scarlet and Violet subset to be released in Japan later this year. A concurrent update on the official YouTube channel has also revealed Art Rare cards for each of the 3 Paldean starter Pokémon.

Based on the numbering of the new art rare cards, which can be seen from 8:18 into the video below, we can expect additional art rares for the rest of the starter evolution line to be included in this set.

The Scarlet ex and Violet ex expansions were released in Japan on January 20th, with the worldwide release of the corresponding Scarlet & Violet to follow on March 31st. As previously reported, the new Scarlet & Violet Series of TCG cards will also see several aesthetic and playability updates coming to the game, including several changes designed to bring card design internationally more in line with the Japanese releases.

There will be a Shield Battle held at participating Pokémon Card Gym locations in Japan to commemorate the release of the Triplet Beat subset. In these Shield Battles, groups of 4 participants will each make a 40-card deck out of 15 Triplet Beat booster packs, a participation pack which includes Rare Candy and one of two Nemoma prints, and basic Energy cards provided by the venue. The winner of each Shield Battle event will receive a Shield Battle Promo Pack, containing one of two Legendary Full Art promo cards. Once all matches are finished, a Rock-Paper-Scissors tournament will also be held for all participants, with the winner of that tournament also receiving a Shield Battle Promo Pack.
