Additional details released on the Pokémon TCG - Scarlet & Violet expansion, launching internationally from March 31st

The Scarlet & Violet expansion to the Pokémon Trading Card Game, will be released worldwide on March 31st, 2023. Following on from the update Pokémon Trading Card Game's official Japanese homepage on Friday afternoon Japanese time, which revealed the majority of the remaining new cards for the upcoming set, The Pokémon Company International has released additional information on the new set, including the numbers of special rare cards in the expansion, as well as images of the designs for Boosters and Elite Trainer Boxes.

As previously reported, the new Scarlet & Violet Series of TCG cards will also see several aesthetic and playability updates coming to the game, including several changes designed to bring card design internationally more in line with the Japanese releases. In addition to the return of Pokémon ex, this expansion also sees the introduction of Tera Pokémon ex. These Pokémon function as Pokémon ex, but with the additional rule that they take no damage from attacks when on the player's bench. Tera Pokémon ex cards will feature unique etched artwork highlighting their Tera Type.

The set will also include a wide array of rare and special illustration cards, several of which we've already covered in a previous update, showcasing the unique personalities of various Evolution lines.
