Kalos Chapter of the Villain Arc launches with new Villain Event, and debut of new sync pairs

Pokémon Masters EX's Villain Arc has entered a new phase, with the Kalos Chapter of Villain Arc beginning today. Debuting alongside the release of this new chapter is a brand new Villain event, Battle! Friends from Kalos, as well as new Sync Pairs for characters who feature in this storyline.

Kalos Chapter of the Villain Arc begins
The Villain Arc enters a new phase with the beginning of the Kalos Chapter, featuring the machinations of Team Flare alongside the Kalos Peace Ceremony that is being held on Pasio, and the reunion Kalos's main characters Serena and Calem with their friends Shauna, Trevor, and Tierno. Diantha will receive a new Sygna Suit Sync Pair as part of this arc, while Shauna will make her Pokémon Masters EX debut in a Sync Pair with Chesnaught. Part One of this chapter is available in-game now, and additional parts will unlock over the coming weeks.

This chapter is a permanent addition to the main story. Players will need to have completed Main Story Chapter 1: The More the Merrier (Normal) in single-player in order to unlock this and other chapters of the Main Story Villain Arc.

Villain Event: Battle! Friends from Kalos

This time-limited event is running as an accompaniment to the launch of the new Kalos Chapter of the Villain Arc. Battle! Friends from Kalos will run until March 5th, at 9:59pm (PST).

Unlike regular Story Events, this Villain Event does not include any lineup bonuses to increase battle rewards. There are however special bonuses for Kalos Sync Pairs, who will have increased Attack, Defense, Special Attack and Special Defence when used in missions for this event, giving them an easier time in completing stages.

In addition to other rewards such as event medals, players can collect Event Voucher S through battle rewards, to trade for custom Professor Sycamore & Xerneas Legendary Spirit from the Exchange Items menu, which can be used to raise Professor Sycamore & Xerneas to 6★ EX. Once raised to 6★ EX, the Professor's outfit is changed to match Xerneas, giving him a blue coat, black shirt, and tan pants.

This event includes a log-in bonus over 14 days. Players can receive these bonuses up until January 28th at 9:59pm (PST), so even if you're a couple of days late starting the event you'll still have the chance to receive all of the available gifts.

New Sync Pairs and Kalos Region Scouts

In conjunction with the Villain Event, two new Sync Pairs are making their Pokémon Masters EX debuts in limited-time Scouts. Both of these new sync pairs have expanded sync grids, and the ability to be raised to 6★ EX.

Sygna Suit Diantha & Diancie's Poké Fair Scout is live right now, alongside the start of the Villain Event, and will run through to March 5th at 9:59pm (PST). Sygna Suit Diantha & Diancie are a fair-exclusive Rock-type Tech Sync Pair. Their Rock Wish move turns the field of play into a Rock Zone, powering up their ability to buff themselves and allies, and debuff opponents. Their Honing Hit 9 Passive Skill raises their Attack by 2 stat ranks and critical-hit rate by 1 stat rank any time a move is successful. In combination with B Diamond Storm and The Curtain Rises!, this allows the pair to buff themselves while simultaneously buffing allies Defense and debuffing opponents Defense. When raised to 6★ EX, Diantha's dress changes to shades of Pink, to match Diancie.

Shauna & Chesnaught will debut in a Spotlight Scout starting January 15th at 10:00pm (PST), and running through to February 5th at 9:59pm (PST). Shauna & Chestnaught are a Grass-type Support Sync Pair. Their Spiky Shield move allows them to take a defensive posture which nullifies opponents moves, and deals recoil damage to opponents who attempted to hit them with physical attacks. In combination with their Team Dauntless Defender and Block and Charge 3 Passive Skills, which buff allies and charge the move gauge whenever Spiky Shield nullifies a move, this pair is a strong tank that provides solid support to their entire party.

In addition to the Poké Fair and Spotlight Scouts, players can also take advantage of a 5★-Guaranteed Kalos Special Scout at a cost of 1,500 paid gems. This scout, which can be done up to three times, ensures that at least one of the 11 Sync Pairs scouted will be a 5★ Sync Pair. Only Sync Pairs from the Kalos region will appear in this scout. This scout will remain available until March 5th, at 9:59pm (PST)

Event Gem Specials
In conjunction with the Battle! Friends from Kalos event, the following four Event Gem Specials will be available in the purchase gems tab of the in-game shop until January DATE, at 9:59pm (PST), offering discounted prices on paid gems.
  • January event gem special 1: Gems x320
  • January event gem special 2: Gems x2,000
  • January event gem special 3: Gems x4,400
  • January event gem special 4: Gems x8,000
