Between April 24th to May 1st, a collective of Pokémon Twitch streamers are hoping to raise $100,000 by collectively catching 1 million Pokémon. The Catch a Million to Conquer Kids’ Cancer marathon is being held in support of St. Baldrick’s Foundation, an organisation that is commited to funding childhood cancer research worldwide. Any and all streamers, big or small, with any appreciation whatsoever for Pokémon, are invited to participate in the Catch a Million event. Viewers will also be able to participate directly in a special Twitch Plays race.

This charity event will be making use of a special Twitch-integrated app, which will track participating streamers' Pokémon captures during the fundraiser. As long as streamers are live on Twitch with the tracker, every Pokémon capture they make across any generation of Pokémon games will count toward the million-Pokémon goal. Live updates of captures will be provided on CatchAMillion.com, along with challenges and quests for participating streamers to complete.

As part of this charity event, TwitchPlaysPokemon will be hosting a 7-day long Pokémon Red and Blue face-off. Streamers Bruce Greene and KaraCorvus will serve as team captains in a race between to catch as many Pokémon as possible using the “Twitch Plays” chat-driven gameplay format, with each team’s community playing the classic Pokémon Red and Blue collectively by entering commands in chat.

As of writing, more than 50 streamers are already registered for the event. All streamers interested in participating in the event must register on CatchAMillion to get access to the Twitch app and contribute towards the goal.
