In the latest of what seems like an
never ending stream of clothing brands announcing special
Pokémon collaborations, UK retailer Zavvi has revealed details on its line of limited edition items celebrating
Pokémon's 25th Anniversary. The collection, which centers around the iconic
Generation I Pokémon
Pikachu, is scheduled to go on sale on the Zavvi website on
Pokémon Day, February 27th, in a staggered rollout. While several of these items are currently displaying as sold out on the Zavvi website, it appears this is simply a result of Zavvi not allowing pre-orders before the official release dates. While Zavvi is a UK based retailer, their website does offer international shipping, and there appear to be no limits on Pokéfans outside of the UK scoring themselves any of the items in the limited collection, or any of the other Pokémon clothing and merchendise that the company sells.
The first product releasing as part of this collaboration is a
special anniversary box bundle. The box includes a hoodie, embroidered cap, embroidered socks and a cosmetic bag, all of which bear Pikachu theming with a special 25th Anniversary Pikachu Logo of a separate design to the anniversary logo that's been used by
The Pokémon Company International on their announcements about the anniversary. The anniversary box is priced at £49.99, and will be available to purchase from 12pm UK time, in strictly limited numbers with only 2500 bundles available.
Later that day at 3pm UK time, Zavvi will release a
Mini-Collection comprising a unique hoodie design, a white sweatshirt and a yellow t-shirt, all of which once again feature Pikachu.
Finally, at 6pm UK time, Zavvi will launch their handcrafted canvus
Pokémon 25th Anniversary High-Top trainer shoes, featuring a black and white design with yellow Pikachu-themed highlights.
This is not the first time Zavvi have released an exclusive range of Pokémon clothing. Several items from their 2020 range, which featured a range of shirts, sweatshirts, and hoodies themed around Pokémon including Generation I
starters Bulbasaur,
Squirtle, and
Charmander, as well as other perennial Generation I fan favourites such as
Eevee,
Jigglypuff,
Magikarp, and
Mewtwo, are still available for purchase from Zavvi's website.
Alongside their own exclusive 25th Anniversary offerings, Zavvi are also one of three retailers in the UK who will be stocking the Electronic die-cast Poké Ball replica from The Wand Company which was announced last November. While the first batch of these for shipping on Pokémon Day have already long since sold out, pre-orders for the next production batch are still available from Zavvi, with an expected release at the end of April.
